Abstract

The inelastic scattering of electrons from 39K is studied at a bombarding energy of 60.2 MeV, with angular distributions measured for seven transitions below an excitation energy of 5.5 MeV. Comparison with DWBA predictions permits the extraction of the electromagnetic transition strengths B(E L). The results are compared with those of heavy-particle scattering studies. The results for shell-model and collective-model transition operators in the electron scattering DWBA analysis are examined.
