Abstract

Two different methods, i.e. the Moldauer formalism and the Tepel formalism, have been used for the calculation of level width fluctuation correction factors to average compound-nucleus cross sections with special emphasis on neutron inelastic scattering cross sections. Thus corrected inelastic scattering cross sections have been calculated with the two formalisms for ten elements covering the atomic mass region 27 to 209 for incident neutrons in the energy range 2.0 to 4.5 MeV. The calculated inelastic scattering cross sections have been compared to the experimental ones reported in a previous work of Almen-Ramstrom.
