Abstract

The inelastic-neutron scattering spectra from −300 to 300 μeV of a series of mixtures at 1.4 K of totally hydrogenated lithium acetate (CH 3CO 2Li·2H 2O or LiAc-h 3) and the partially deuterated analogue (CH 2DCO 2Li·2H 2O or LiAc-h 2d) with relative concentrations in LiAc-h 3 of 100, 80, 60, 40 and 20 % are presented. They reveal at least five partially resolved bands. For pure LiAc-h 2d no band could be observed. The spectra are rationalized with two infinite chains of coupled rotors.
