Abstract

Hereby investigated is the modified Kadomtsev–Petviashvili equation which can be used to describe the wave phenomena in fluid dynamics, plasma physics and electrodynamics. By virtue of the Cole–Hopf transformation and perturbation expansion method, we obtain the single- and multiple-front waves of such equation. Based on the structures of those (2 + 1)-dimensional solutions, inelastic interactions among the multiple-front waves are discussed which might provide us with the useful information on the dynamics of the relevant physical fields.
