Abstract

Using linear response theory and the diagonal approximation we calculate exactly and analytically surface response of a semi-infinite semiconductor superlattice to an electron moving in the vacuum. This response determines the scattering process. The electron energy loss spectrum due to surface intra- and intersubband plasmons is predicted for the first time.
