Abstract

The elastic and inelastic scattering of deuterons from 1 f 7 2 nuclei ( 40,42,44Ca, 45Sc, 46,48Ti, 50,51V, 50,52Cr and 54Fe) has been measured at 7.50 MeV bombarding energy. The deuterons were detected in a multi-angle spectrograph in the angular interval from 22.5° to 157.5° with an energy resolution of 8 keV. The elastic scattering data were analysed by the optical model, and the 0 + → 2 1 + and 0 + → 3 − transitions were analysed by means of distorted-wave (DW) calculations. The angular distributions for transitions leading to 2 2 +, 4 + and 0 + states are discussed in terms of possible higher-order reaction mechanisms.
