Abstract
Properties, costs and availabilities are reviewed for a number of raw materials in current use, or having potential use, as replacements for asbestos fibre. These include glass fibres and mineral wools; ceramic or refractory fibres; a number of minerals in fibrous or particulate form; and some specific synthetic and natural organic fibres. A tabulation shows the major product groups which may incorporate these various materials.
