Abstract

The effect of fractional stimulated Raman adiabatic passage in an optically dense medium of three-level Λ atoms is shown to result in the maximum coherence on the Raman transition on a length of the medium that considerably exceeds the length of linear resonant absorption. The general case of unequal oscillator strengths of the adjacent transitions is analyzed. The results are of interest for coherent anti-Stokes Raman spectroscopy with delayed pulses.
