Abstract

Oral Syndrome to Rosaceae fruits associated with pollen allergy significantly affects the quality of life of patients. Sublingual pollen immunotherapy has little effect on this food allergy, but the published results of oral tolerance are promising. We present the case of a child with an allergy to raw Rosaceae fruits with a reaction threshold to peach cooked at 100°C for 20min. Treatment with peach oral immunotherapy at progressively decreasing cooking times induced acquisition of tolerance to raw peach and related fruits (raspberry, cherry, apricot, redcurrant, blackberry, strawberry). An additional protocol for apple was necessary to ensure tolerance to this fruit. Using the thermolability of certain fruit allergens offers an opportunity for acquisition of tolerance through freedom from the oral syndrome triggered by the raw fruit.
