Abstract

Oysters transferred from south to north-central Chile were induced to mature and spawn outside their natural breeding season. The larvae were set on shell particles and whole shell as cultch, and early growth data were obtained. Hatchery production of this species in winter months may help the development of commercial oyster production in southern Chile which is currently limited by summer spatfall.
