Abstract

In an exact category every morphism of one square to another induces morphisms between invariants introduced by J. Lambek. Our first object is to give a homological description of these induced morphisms. As a consequence, there is obtained from a 3×3 diagram an exact square involving homology objects. We finally show how this exact square can be used to unify part of classical homology exact sequence and a proposition of P. J. Hilton.
