Abstract

The emission of electrons from atoms or molecules either in the gas phase or from the surface layers or the interior of solid phases under the impact of electromagnetic radiation is a phenomenon which is now being actively investigated. It has found application in the study of surfaces and catalysis. These techniques are discussed in this article.
