Abstract

This year, 2001, the Aardklop National Arts Festival is already four years old. The festival started in 1998 and is held yearly during September in Potchefstroom. The festival has grown considerably since its shy beginnings in 1998 and is quickly following in the footsteps of the Klein Karoo National Arts Festival held in Oudtshoorn each April. Drama, music, bookfairs, street theatre and artworks are all on offer. Elma Young gives her personal accounts of the 2000 festival and discusses the main dramatic attractions of the first three years: Requiem, Om Goodbye te Sê, Kroes, Kras en Kordaat and Boetman is die Bliksem in!
