Abstract

An indoor localization system is an important technology for providing navigation or location-based services in a complex indoor environment. Different Indoor localization systems have their own strengths and weaknesses. Therefore, complementary integration schemes were proposed to complement each other's shortcomings and utilize their strengths. The proposed indoor localization system with PDR and WiFi complementary integration closely combines WiFi triangulation and PDR to track location more accurately and collect WiFi RSSI while using seamless data service. AP-assisted multi beacon transmission scheme, a WiFi handover technique, was used to simultaneously perform WiFi RSSI collection and data service. WiFi and PDR complement each other's weaknesses; WiFi overcomes RSSI fluctuations through PDR, and PDR solves cumulative error and step length accuracy through WiFi.
