Abstract

In recent years, phased array antennas have become quite popular for Radar applications due to their high reliability. The evaluation of these antennas requires all the conventional parameters like gain, radiation pattern, beam width etc, to be measured at various frequencies and scan angles. Besides these tests, a few unconventional tests, specific to the nature of the antenna and its application also have to be carried out. Conducting all these tests at all the frequency spots of operation and at a considerable number of beam positions may not be practically feasible in an outdoor test range. The planar near-field measurement technique provides a convenient and accurate method for evaluating such large phased array antennas.
