Abstract

Abstract This chapter discusses indoor air quality (IAQ) in schools. IAQ in schools can have an important impact on health. Four factors determine IAQ in schools: sources of indoor air pollution; heating, ventilating, and air-conditioning systems; pollutant pathways; and the people themselves. The EPA's Tools for Schools program can be used to identify IAQ problems. These problems may be mitigated and managed with a variety of strategies including controlling sources and exposures and educating teachers, staff, and students.
