Abstract

New varieties rice is one of the technology components that play a major role to increase rice production. Efforts to introduce new varieties needs to be done to get the response of farmers to varieties developed refers to the environment and the market. The purpose of this study was to determine the growth and yield performance of 5 new varieties of rice on irrigated lowland in Pandeglang Banten. This research was held from April to August 2012 on Sukasari Village, Kaduhejo Subdistrict, Pandeglang District, Banten Province. There are 5 varieties tested namely Inpari 3, Inpari 4, Inpari 7, Inpari 10, and Inpari 13. Fertilizers are given using fertilization recommendations of site-specific nutrient management (SSNM) with 125 kg/ha Phonska and 125 kg/ha urea by planting systems jajar legowo 4 : 1, two seedlings for each planting hole, seedlings 20 days. The result showed that Inpari 10 gives the highest yield, i.e. 7.1 tons/ha dry grain yield (DGY) and the lowest was Inpari 4, i.e. 5.3 tons/ha DGY, whereas Inpari 3, Inpari 7 and Inpari 13 give the same yield about 6.2 tons/ha DGY. The preference test showed that Inpari 10 and Inpari 4 are preferred of the farmer.
