Abstract

Hardjana AK. 2015. Standing stock biomass capacity of dipterocarp and non-dipterocarp based on the conditions of forest vegetation cover in KHDTK Labanan, Berau District, East Kalimantan. Pros Sem Nas Masy Biodiv Indon 1: 590-596. Forest Area with Special Purpose (KHDTK) Labanan is a forest area that is used for the purposes of research and development, education and training. KHDTK Labanan has a huge potential to store carbon stocks, it is characterized by the diversity of vegetation types with varying levels of structure. In addition to its status as a natural forest KHDTK Labanan also has standing stock that is greater than the secondary forest areas and other land uses in the surrounding area. However, since the enactment of Labanan as KHDTK it is not free from interference, encroachment for agriculture and illegal logging which causes damage to the residual stand and vegetation. Such defects can cause a decrease in the potential of biomass direct indication and the ability of the region to store carbon. The purpose of this study is to provide information on the potential reserve biomass stock of group of stands types stored in KHDTK Labanan based on the condition of vegetation cover. This study uses the interpretation of Landsat imagery as biomass potential, while as a comparison or controls the inspection method is used to create plots sampled area of at least 900 m2 on each condition of forest vegetation cover with 3 replications per location, data is processed by the relevant allometric equation. KHDTK Labanan based on the condition of forest vegetation cover has potential reserves stand for is 831.85 m3/ha (high density vegetation), 482.94 m3/ha (medium density vegetation) and 294.18 m3/ha (small density of vegetation). The results of calculation of biomass on the type of dipterocarp and non-dipterocarp for conditions with high density of vegetation cover each has a backup of biomass 10.91 tons/ha and 22.68 tons/ha. Biomass in vegetation cover conditions with medium density, for the type of dipterocarp of 5.76 tons/ha and non-dipterocarp of 23.92 tons/ha. And biomass in vegetation cover conditions with small density, for the type of dipterocarp of 2.16 tons/ha and non-dipterocarp of 17.94 tons/ha.
