Abstract

Sulistyo A. 2015. Selection of F2 population soybean derived from crosses between whitefly-tolerant soybean lines withGrobogan varieties. Pros Sem Nas Masy Biodiv Indon 1: 1142-1146. Cultivation of soybean (Glycine max) in Indonesia is oftenimpaired due to pest attacks, one of which is the whitefly (Bemisia tabaci). The use of resistant varieties is one of the solutions toovercome these problems. Soybean varieties that are resistant to whitefly are not yet available in Indonesia. Whitefly-tolerant soybeanlines derived from ILETRI (Indonesian Legumes and Tuber Crops Research Institute) still needs to be improved in the yield componentcharacters. Grobogan varieties, local soybean varieties, from Central Java have been released as high yielding varieties. This variety hasthe advantage of early maturity, large seed size, and high yield. Crossing between whitefly-tolerant soybean lines with Groboganvarieties aims to obtain whitefly-tolerant soybean varieties, early maturity, large seed size and high yield. The purpose of this study wasto select F2 population derived from crossing between whitefly-tolerant soybean lines and Grobogan varieties. The experiment wasconducted at the Muneng experimental station, Probolinggo district, East Java since April to June 2014. The used genetic materials were75 lines of F2 from crossing between whitefly-tolerant soybean lines (IAC-100/Kaba-8, IAC-100/Burangrang-54 and IAC-100/Kaba-14)and Grobogan varieties. The entire genetic materials were planted in a single row along with 4.5 m and placed into five different blocksusing augmented design. Three soybean genotypes as a check, Gema varieties as a check of early maturity and medium seed size,Grobogan varieties as a check of early maturity and large seed size, and IAC-100/Kaba-8 line as a check of whitefly tolerant were used. The considered observations were the intensity of leaf damage due to whitefly attack, days of pods maturity, number of pods, andweight of 100 seeds. The results showed that there were differences in the intensity of leaf damage due to whitefly attack, days of podsmaturity, number of pods, and weight of 100 seeds among 75 lines. There are two lines resistant, early maturity, and large seed size;three lines resistant, moderate maturity, and large seed size; 16 lines moderately resistant, early maturity, and large seed size; and 20lines moderately resistant, moderate maturity, and large seed size.
