Abstract

The object of this research was to know the genetic variation of Penaeid Shrimp (Penaeus merguiensis de Man) from area of Juwana and Banyuwangi based on allozyme analyze. The genetic data was collected by allozyme electrophoresis technique by analyzed 10 kinds of enzymes, they were ADH, LDH, IDH, MDH, AAT, EST, SP, PGM, GPI, I±- GPD. The genotipe distribution in polymorphic loci was estimated according to Hardy-Weinberg rule. The genetic variation was measured based on polymorphic loci propotion, alel frequency, quantity of allel per loci and heterozygocity. The result of this research showed that in 10 enzymes from Juwana’s population could detected 18 enzymes loci with one polymorphic loci, GPI-2, the frequency of polymorphic loci were 0.01 and 0.99, the proportion of polymorphic loci was 6%, the quantity of alel per loci was 1.06 and heterozygocity was 0.001. In enzyme from Banyuwangi’s population, there was 17 loci found with GPI-2 as polymorphic loci, the frequency of polymorphic loci were 0.1 and 0.90, the proportion of polymorphic loci was 6%, the quantity of alel per loci was 1.06 and heterozygocity was 0.01. The genetic divergence was 0.058 for population from Juwana and Banyuwangi. In Juwana population was found MDH-3 loci which could not been found in Banyuwangi’s population. So there was a distinction between both populations by the presence of MDH-3 loci. There was genetic difference about 3.6% caused by population difference and 96.4% caused by individual variation in population.
