Abstract

It seems obvious that there are significant differences among pupils of the same age in their abilities, interests, learning abilities, social status and prior knowledge as well as in their emotional and physical development. Hence, it is also known that in the first decade of the 21st century, the curriculum of primary education is based on the possibilities of pupils with average abilities and the organization and conducting of teaching activities fail to recognize individual differences among pupils. This paper shows the results of research of individual differences in language and orthography learning of students of primary school age. The research has been realized on the pattern of 119 students of the fourth grade of elementary school 'Učitelj Tasa' in Nis. The research results are observed and analyzed from two aspects: from the aspect of existence of individual differences and from the aspect of graduated their size. The results showed that among students there are large individual differences in their language and orthography education. Considering these individual differences we can speculate about the relation between them and teaching procedure. Because there is no doubt what kind of education we want, quality one or not, there can be no doubt whether or not to adjust the teaching to students' abilities.
