Abstract

Principles and guidelines for urban regeneration policies in peripheral areas. Experiments in Palermo. The peripheral area of contemporary cities propose to spatial planning and urban design like active components of urban evolution. From critical area evolve towards powerful area for innovations and transformations in the framework of polycentric urban development. Our new vision transforms the peripheral area from concentration of stigma into active subjects of strategic choice for localizing new urban centralities and for defining more efficient infrastructural actions in the urban transformation scenario.
