Abstract

A procedure is described whereby electromotive force (emf ) data from a cell with solid state electrodes, conventionally used for the quantitative detection of residual water in methanol–water solvents, can be used to enhance existing standard emf data in the lower water range for the cell Pt(s), H2(g)|HCl (solution in MeOH–H2O)|AgCl(s)|Ag(s)|Pt(s).
