Abstract
The indirect exchange coupling between ferromagnetic layers, separated by non magnetic metal layers of a few monolayer thickness was first found by Grunberg et al. [1] in Fe/Cr multilayers. In addition Baibich et al. [2] reported a Giant Magneto Resistance (GMR) in these systems. Since then a new field in the research of very thin magnetic films has been started because of the great interest in the coupling phenomena for basic research as well as for application. Indirect exchange coupling was also found in multilayer systems of ferromagnetic layers (Fe) and Rare Earth Metals (Tb) separated by non magnetic metal interlayers. As in the GMR systems the coupling strength oscillates with increasing thickness of the interlayers. The oscillation period depends on the material of the interlayers.
