Abstract

The pre-injector with an external cathode and two independent tunable cavities (EC-ITC) can develop the high-power terahertz oscillator with a compact layout. Adequate characterizations for the driven beam are of importance to promote the application of the ITC-based injector. Based on the theories of RF coupling and RF-induced motions, indirect evaluations for energy and energy spread of the pre-injector via online elements were investigated while extra devices and complicated technologies were avoided. Verification experiments were also conducted at a testing bench refitted from an existing ITC-based injector. To a certain extent, the RF-based diagnostics presented effective supplements to compact beam injectors.
