Abstract

Gas-liquid chromatographic analysis of metal chelates was applied to the indirect determination of sulfide ion. A constant amount of copper(II) and 1, 1, 1-trifluoro-4-cyclopropyl-2, 4-butanedione (TFCPBD)H were added in excess to the sulfide ion present in a sample solution. Then the sulfide ion was converted to CuS precipitates and the remaining copper(II) to bis(1, 1, 1-trifluoro-4-cyclopropyl-2, 4-butanedionato)copper(II), Cu(TFCPBD)2. By gasliquid chromatographic analysis of the metal chelate, the sulfide ion (25 - 500 ppm) could be indirectly determined.
