Abstract

This paper proposes an indicator for discriminating difference among subjects for several data of objects with respect to variables based on similarity (or dissimilarity) of objects. If we observe several data related to different subjects, consisting of the same objects and variables over the subjects, obtaining difference among the subjects is sometimes important for understanding the data difference depending on the subjects’ individuality on the data. Therefore, this paper proposes an indicator whose score shows the individuality for each subject. The indicator is defined by using an idea of the objective function of convex clustering. Based on the basic methodology of the indicator, two kinds of indicator are proposed; one is an indicator used for each result of multidimensional scaling, and another is utilized for each result of fuzzy clustering, corresponding to each subject. Numerical examples show the better performance of the proposed indicators, which show the individuality of subjects.
