Abstract

Geospatial data users have to be aware of the data quality in order to reduce the risks of data misuse. Information describing quality is diverse and can be represented at different levels of detail. Users can then access huge volumes of quality information, being lost in this information overload. This paper suggests the use of quality indicators to enhance the communication of geospatial data quality information. Concepts of dashboard and indicator are presented and adapted to the geospatial domain to be integrated into a GIS interface. An overview of a prototype named Multidimensional User Manual (MUM) that communicates quality indicators into a GIS interface is presented.
