Abstract

Abstract India recently published its National Suicide Prevention Strategy aimed at reducing suicide mortality in the country by 10% by the year 2030. This strategy laid out time-bound objectives and action plans, targeting biological, psychosocial, and cultural risk factors for suicide, which are specific to the region. The strategy is to be implemented by utilizing existing national and regional mental health-care infrastructure and enlisting multisectoral cooperation. This discussion provides a critical appraisal of the National Suicide Prevention Strategy of India, 2022.
