Abstract

The massive physical dimensions of this book are probably the only impressive thing about it. Though its subtitle: Studies on the Psychological Characteristics of Medical Students—I, would lead one to expect to find in its 800 pages clinical information relevant to the description of interesting personality factors in medical students, one is bitterly disappointed by the aridity of the effort and the inanity of the reward. An Index of Rorschach Responses arose from the need for new approach to the investigational use of the Rorschach test. Claiming that workers have always found Rorschach responses difficult to use as reliable research tools, the authors attempt in this book to meet this difficulty by giving up a method for presenting both the quantitative and qualitative facets of Rorschach data. The authors' method in this instance consisted of adapting the KWIC Indexing computer program to the task of organizing the Rorschach
