Abstract
The article presents the results of studies aimed at identifying promising maternal and paternal lines in maternal breeds of pigs based on the index evaluation for reproductive, fattening and meat traits, and their genotypes based on the polymorphism of
 marker genes of performance traits. Differentiation of maternal breed pig lines into paternal and maternal ones has been established. Based on the data obtained as a result of polymorphism of the main marker genes of performance traits (ESR, IGF-2, HFABP and RYR 1), preferable and undesirable genotypes for maternal and paternal lines of pigs of the following breeds were determined: Belarusian Large White, Belarusian Black-and-White and Belarusian Yorkshire breed type pigs.
