Abstract

Detention plays an important role as a strategy of dissuasion in relation to migratory intentions and asylum requests. Its use is not limited to the Member States of the European Union, nowadays governments of different countries share information and adopt prison measures against those who intent to enter European territory (Amnistía Internacional, 2009, p. 3). This manuscript deals with the current relationship between migration and detention, analyzing the implementation of detention centers for migrants people as part of the policy of externalization of borders from the European Union and its impact in the migratory projects and the definition of illegal migration.
