Abstract
This study examined the incremental predictive validity of positive psychological capital (PsyCap) in the presence of a full range of personality traits in predicting several important employee outcomes. Using a sample of 373 employees from South Korea, we found that employees’ PsyCap is related to their perceived performance, turnover intention, work happiness, and subjective well-being, even after controlling for the Big Five personality traits. These findings demonstrate the potential fruitfulness of developing employees’ PsyCap for performance improvement as well as the broad relevance of PsyCap’s effect on employees across work and life domains. Limitations, directions for future research, and practical implications conclude this study.
