Abstract

An incremental rigid-plastic axisymmetric finite element model for the analysis of thick sheet metal forming processes under the action of rigid tools is developed on the basis of a triangular element with the linear law of displacements' distribution. The nonlinear effects due to the changes in sheet geometry and contact states during each incremental step are taken into account. Examples on drawing of thick metal sheets through conical and cylindrical dies are considered.
