Abstract
The use of an asymmetric basic rack profile can lead to a significant increase of the load capacity of bevel gears. Therefore several aspects have to be taken into account. Especially the length of the contact line and the shape of the tooth root fillet are playing a crucial role to achieve the desired improvement of the performance.
