Abstract
Geriatric mental health training programs would benefit from increased emphasis in two areas: the role of the general health care system in meeting the mental health needs of the elderly; and, the assessment and modification of environments to promote the mental health of the elderly. These two areas are discussed and suggestions are made for including them in the curriculum.
