Abstract

Glass with composition (69-x)P2O5-20Li2O-10AlF3-xNaF-xKF-1Er2O3 (% mol) with (x = 0 ;10) was tested using melt-quenching technique. Some of the characterization carried out are identify physical properties, optical properties, luminescence, and radiation properties. Characterization using UV-vis-NIR to obtain absorption spectra in the region 380 – 1700 nm. NIR luminescence spectroscopy is used to produce a near infrared spectrum in the NIR region 1400 nm – 1700 nm. Based on the results of their radiation properties, the three glasses in this study have the potential as optical amplifier.
