Abstract

Patterns of utilization of college mental health services are similor to those of community services, in that both are under-used by black people, who are seen mainly at crisis points. The senior author, a black psychiatric social worker, discusses the reasons for this, and describes methods that significantly increased black student participation in a pilot program of mental health services at a city college.
