Abstract

The androgen receptor (AR) gene, located on the X chromosome, has a variable CAG tract in exon1; longer CAG repeats are associated with decreased activity. Shorter repeats may be associated with a more androgenic phenotype in PCOS patients, in turn a negative prognostic indicator for successful ovulation induction. We hypothesize that longer AR CAG repeats are associated with fertility treatment success in PCO patients.
