Abstract

Application of electric field along a boron-doped carbon nanotube bundle triggers straightening and lengthening activities and underlying mechanism arises from the field induced nanotube alignment into closed packed rod. Calculation reveals that the cohesive energy and elastic modulus of the field treated bundle are two orders of magnitude greater than the reported data on raw nanotube aggregates.
