Abstract

Trichinella-infected mice exhibited a marked increase in sensitivity to serotonin and histamine, i.e., intravenous injection of these amines produced behavioral changes and damage to the small intestine. Sensitivity reached a peak early in the course of infection and persisted at a high level for weeks. Cortisone treatment blocked reactivity of infected mice to serotonin.
