Abstract

The aim of this study was to show that the risk of occupational violence increases during weekend nights. An interview study of 164 victims of occupational violence was connected with the exposure data obtained from a study in which 10,974 people kept diaries on their use of time. The Relative Risk of violence during weekend nights compared to violence during regular office hours was 9.92 and to other times at work 1.65. The risk of violence at work increased between 5 p.m. and 5 a.m. on Friday and Saturday nights.
