Abstract

Recent preclinical studies show that chronic stimulation of the cardiac α1A-adrenergic receptor (α1A-AR) has beneficial effects in multiple animal models of heart failure. However, direct evidence in human is lacking. Human engineered heart tissues (EHT) provide a means of quantifying effects of chronic α1A-AR stimulation on human cardiomyocyte physiology.
