Abstract

Nucleated blood or bone marrow cells obtained from patients suffering from myelofibrosis with myeloid metaplasia (MMM) were cultured in diffusion chambers implanted in the peritoneal cavities of X-irradiated mice. The data obtained from MMM cell culture studies were compared with those obtained from normal or chronic myelocytic leukemia marrow cell cultures. The results indicate that MMM patients have increased numbers of erythrocytic and neutrophilic progenitors in their blood and marrow.
