Abstract

Abstract Water chilled for 14 d in static systems by two different chillers with copper evaporator coils was analyzed for total copper concentration. Much higher copper levels (361–394 μg/L) were recorded in water from tanks with chillers than in water from control tanks (18 μg/L). Copper toxicity problems may occur if chillers with copper evaporator coils are used in hatcheries.
