Adaptation is a sign of strength, and the American Society of Anesthesiologists has proven strong. The ability to remain a united organization is a tribute to the legacy of leaders before us and the leadership and membership we currently enjoy. I am proud to serve alongside those leaders as your ASA Assistant Secretary. We continue to face an array of challenges to our profession and specialty. At the same time, we are enjoying an increase in interest in our field from medical students. How can we protect the specialty for future patients and colleagues? I firmly believe if ASA is strong and vibrant, the field will follow, and if the medical specialty of anesthesiology is strong and vibrant, ASA will follow. But we cannot do this without our members.
