Abstract

UDC 669.35.5 The effect of temperature ranges is analyzed for heating an ingot of (α + β)-lead brasses on material phase composition in an extruder container and in a fi nished object. It is established that the optimum extrusion temperature range is 780–800oC, i.e., 100oC below the solidus line and above the temperature of phase transition from the (α + β)-condition to the β-condition. Industrial experiments are completed for increasing extrusion temperature and establishing improvement of ultimate strength distribution over the length of a workpiece by 8%, and uniformity of relative elongation distribution by 34%.
