Abstract
1. When hypothalamic tissue is incubated in vitro in the presence of [3H]estradiol at 37°, incorporation of the estradiol into nuclei of neurons of the arcuate nucleus of the hypothalamus occurs. 2. When hypothalamic tissue is incubated in vitro in the presence of [3H]estradiol at 37 and 22°, incorporation of the estradiol into tanicytes of the mediobasal hypothalamus, which exceeds the incorporation of estradiol into the ciliary ependyma, takes place. 3. When hypothalamic tissue is incubated in vitro in the presence of [3H]estradiol, the activity of the β-tanicytes in the incorporation of estradiol is higher than that of the α2-tanicytes. 4. Incorporation of the label into theβ-tanicytes decreases, while incorporation into the ciliary ependyma and α2-tanicytes increases if after incubation with [3H]estradiol the hypothalamic tissue is transferred to a solution of unlabeled estradiol.
