Abstract

Incorporating ferrocenecarboxylato(-1) into [CuI2(μ-dppm)2]2+ (dppm = bis(diphenylphosphino)methane) led to the isolation of a heterometallic complex [Cu2(μ2-η1,η1dppm)2(μ2-η1, η1FcCOO)(CH3CN)]BF4·CH3CN (1). It was characterized by infrared spectroscopy (IR), elemental analysis (EA), powder X-ray diffraction analysis (PXRD), ultraviolet–visible spectrum (UV–Vis), nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR), and thermogravimetric analysis (TGA). Single-crystal X-ray structural analysis revealed that ferrocenecarboxylato(-1) coordinated to the [Cu2(μ2-η1,η1dppm)2]2+ unit via μ2-η1,η1 bridging mode in 1. The title complex shows good optical absorption and thermal stability, and reliable electrochemical stability. Moreover, this heterometallic copper(I) complex could be used as a promising electrochemical sensing material for the detection of H2O2.
