Abstract
We have observed incomplete momentum transfer in binary reactions of the $^{40}$Ar${+\mathrm{}}^{58}$Ni system at 15 MeV/nucleon with a relative intensity of 0.11\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}0.05. The projectile spectator has a mass close to A=8, and the inelasticity of reactions with incomplete momentum transfer is halfway between that of normal elastic and deep-inelastic reactions.
